Lakshmi Alagappan

Lakshmi Alagappan, Director + Ms. Alagappan's work spans the Transmission Planning and Pricing, Renewables and Emerging Technologies, Resource Planning and Procurement, and International Policy and Planning practice areas. Since joining E3 in 2008, she has worked extensively with transmission developers and guided them through the transmission planning process in California. She has led benefits analyses for two high-voltage transmission projects that were recently approved by the CAISO. In addition to her transmission work, she also conducts market valuation and strategy analysis for developers, utilities, and government agencies. Her recent clients include the California ISO, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Sempra Energy, AltaLink, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, and the World Bank. Prior to joining E3, her experience includes a summer fellowship with the Air and Energy Division of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), research under Professor Frank Wolak on the impacts of oil price volatility on individual state economies in the United States, and an internship with E3 studying interconnection and service policies for wind generators. Ms. Alagappan earned an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University.
