E3 is excited to announce the opening of its new office in Denver, Colorado. Denver now joins San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Calgary as hosts to E3 offices.

E3’s expansion will create new opportunities to expand on past and ongoing work in the Mountain West. Our team has enjoyed working with a variety of partners in the region, including state agencies, utilities, developers, and other clients. For the Colorado Energy Office, for example, E3 developed both a greenhouse gas emissions roadmap and a low-carbon hydrogen roadmap that served as important inputs to the state’s strategies for achieving a 50% cut in climate-warming emissions by 2050. For the City of Denver, E3 identified the consumer economics of electrification and developed an assessment on how increases in electrification loads would impact the electrical grid infrastructure. Our new Denver office is an opportunity to serve our existing, forward-thinking clients more closely with deeper on-the-ground expertise and partnership, and to grow E3’s presence and impact on the region.

The momentum around clean energy in Denver reflects in its talent pool as well. E3 is thrilled to welcome Ben Elsey as a Director. Originally from the Southwest coast of England, Ben is now a happy Colorado resident. He joins our Integrated System Planning practice area, supporting the team in modeling and analysis of resource and transmission planning, procurement, and pricing. Ben brings over a decade of experience in the energy sector, most recently leading the clean energy transition for Xcel Energy in Texas and New Mexico as Director of Resource Planning and Bidding. In this role, Ben managed the process of issuing and evaluating proposals for new resources, filed integrated resource plans, and ensured ongoing resource adequacy.

“Colorado is a key player in the journey to decarbonization, and I’m excited to join E3 and be part of this exciting transition,” Elsey says. E3 Senior Partner Arne Olson shares Ben’s excitement. “We are incredibly excited to bring Ben on board to help us continue to build our industry-leading integrated system planning practice,” says Olson.
